Potted Roses

Potted roses are available all year round. They are very popular gifts and can be planted during the summer months outside of the bare root rose season. Once planted, they establish quickly in the garden, flowering in their first year – and for many years to come. Potted roses are delivered direct from David Austin’s nursery by courier. Each rose will arrive in a premium 6 litre pot, securely packed inside a sturdy, rose-print box. If watered adequately, potted roses can be kept in the same pot in which they are delivered for 6 weeks or more.

    Small, single flowers held in very large heads, rather like a hydrangea, produced almost continuously from early summer into autumn. Soft apricot buds open to pure white, with a hint of soft lemon behind the stamens. It is extremely healthy and almost thornless. The growth is bushy and rather upright. David Austin, 2009.

    Bears large heads of small, semi-double, creamy white flowers, which eventually fade to white. Each flower exhibits a cluster of pretty yellow stamens. They have a powerful musky clove scent and are produced in great abundance on strong, dense, twiggy growth. The flowers are followed by masses of small hips in the autumn.

    Rambling Rose
    A very beautiful and elegant rambler, with small pink buds opening to semi-double flowers, which quickly fade from cream to white. They are held in small, dainty sprays, hanging gracefully from the branch rather like the blooms of a Japanese cherry. The growth is very lax and not too vigorous, making it an easy variety to train.     A healthy, tough and extremely vigorous rose with spreading growth. It bears masses of small, white flowers, with a strong musky fragrance, which are held in beautiful, flat-topped, cascading clusters, known as corymbs – which can sometimes be made up of hundreds of individual flowers. Each flower faces outwards, exposing a cluster of pretty yellow stamens. Flowering later than most ramblers, in June-July, the flowers are followed by an equally wonderful crop of small, oval shaped, coral-red hips. Murrell, 1964.

    A giant rambler, producing exceptionally large, heavy heads of strongly fragrant, white flowers. The individual blooms are small, semi-double and cupped, with yellow stamens.     This variety has particularly beautiful blooms. The buds open to reveal many petalled cups, which gradually form large, flat rosettes. The colour is a very attractive shade of soft yellow, the petals paling prettily towards the edges. The flowers have a medium strength fragrance, which is a perfect balance of Tea and myrrh. It will quickly reach some height and still produce flowers and leaves lower down the plant. Named after the pilgrims in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. DavidᅠAustin, 1991.
