Potted Roses

Potted roses are available all year round. They are very popular gifts and can be planted during the summer months outside of the bare root rose season. Once planted, they establish quickly in the garden, flowering in their first year – and for many years to come. Potted roses are delivered direct from David Austin’s nursery by courier. Each rose will arrive in a premium 6 litre pot, securely packed inside a sturdy, rose-print box. If watered adequately, potted roses can be kept in the same pot in which they are delivered for 6 weeks or more. Potted roses are £5 more than bare root roses.

    A delightful, unassuming rose of typical Old Rose beauty. It is a pure white sport of the pink English Rose, ‘The Mayflower’. The remarkable thing about these two roses is that, in so far as we are aware, they are completely free from disease. The medium-strong fragrance is perfectly Old Rose in character. It is extremely winter hardy, with upright, bushy, twiggy growth. Named for the founder of Portmeirion Pottery, who was a great enthusiast of the English Roses. David Austin, 2010.

    Bears large clusters of neat, deeply cupped blooms, each with a small boss of stamens. Initially mid pink, verging on lilac-pink, they pale as they open, the individual petals beautifully defined by their carmine edges. Held above the foliage, they nod gracefully on gently arching growth, and have a sweet fruity fragrance. A healthy variety; it makes a bushy shrub, clothed in glossy foliage.     Red buds open to beautifully formed, upwardfacing, coral-pink rosettes. Small petals of varying shades mingle to provide a most pleasing effect. The myrrh fragrance has delicious hints of hawthorn, elderflower, pear and almond. It forms an upright shrub. Charles II hid in an oak tree at Boscobel House during the English Civil War. They are a beautiful blend of subtle apricot-pink and soft yellow, giving the overall impression of apricot, with creamy outer petals. There is a superb floral myrrh fragrance, with hints of honey and Tea. It forms a short, vigorous climber. The name was inspired by the heroine of Thomas Hardy’s Far from the Madding Crowd. They open purple-magenta with a white centre, occasionally streaked white too, each with an attractive boss of bright yellow stamens. As the blooms age, they fade to lilac-grey – appearing almost blue on occasions. There is a fresh, fruity scent with rich orange notes. The growth is rather stiff and almost thornless. Schmidt, 1869.
