Potted Roses

Potted Roses

Potted roses are available all year round. They are very popular gifts and can be planted during the summer months outside of the bare root rose season. Once planted, they establish quickly in the garden, flowering in their first year – and for many years to come. Potted roses are delivered direct from David Austin’s nursery by courier. Each rose will arrive in a premium 6 litre pot, securely packed inside a sturdy, rose-print box. If watered adequately, potted roses can be kept in the same pot in which they are delivered for 6 weeks or more.

    Bears flowers of the most perfect formation – shallow cups of the purest mid pink. They flower very freely from early summer until well into the autumn and have a strong, pure Old Rose fragrance. It has an excellent bushy habit with upright, vigorous growth. Maturing into an attractively rounded shrub; it flowers almost to the ground. Named after the Royal Horticultural Society’s garden in Yorkshire, to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the society’s formation. David Austin, 2004.

    Soft orange-red buds open to medium-sized, cupped rosettes of perfect apricot colouring. They are extremely robust and have a lovely fruity Tea scent. Very healthy; it matures into an attractive, rounded, bushy shrub with few thorns. Named to mark the centenary of Roald Dahl’s birth, with the approval of his wife, Liccy Dahl – the colouring reminiscent of the eponymous peach in James and the Giant Peach. A total of £100,000 has been donated to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity from sales of this rose. David Austin, 2016.

    A repeat-flowering rambler, bearing fully double, soft yellow blooms, which are held in medium to large clusters. There is a light to medium musky fragrance. It is very healthy with strong, slender growth, attractive polished foliage and few thorns.     Bears beautifully formed flowers, which nod gracefully on the stem. When the petals open they expose numerous stamens, providing an almost water lily-like effect. The flowers are a pale glowing pink and have a delicious fragrance with aspects of Old Rose, musk and myrrh. Named for the National Gardens Scheme. DavidᅠAustin, 2002.

    Beautiful, little, rosette-shaped flowers are held in large, open sprays with each bloom held separately from the rest, creating a delicate, airy effect. They are a lovely pale pink colour and have a wonderfully strong musky fragrance. Although it is only once flowering, its blooms are borne in great abundance, making a magnificent display. An exceptionally tall, vigorous climber; it produces many long, slim, flexible branches which trail gracefully, hanging down elegantly from their support. Paul, 1876.

    Bears large heads of small, semi-double, creamy white flowers, which eventually fade to white. Each flower exhibits a cluster of pretty yellow stamens. They have a powerful musky clove scent and are produced in great abundance on strong, dense, twiggy growth. The flowers are followed by masses of small hips in the autumn.

    This is a rose of truly rambler-like character, which has the benefit of reliably repeat-flowering. It bears delightful sprays of small, pale apricot-pink flowers, flushed with pale yellow.     It bears large, cupped, rather informal, creamy white blooms tinged with pink, which have a strong, sweet fruity fragrance. First flowering in June/July, it repeats until late in the season. The growth is strong, bushy and upright with plentiful foliage. Although rather stiff, training the stems will create a graceful effect. Schwartz, 1879.

    A healthy, tough and extremely vigorous rose with spreading growth. It bears masses of small, white flowers, with a strong musky fragrance, which are held in beautiful, flat-topped, cascading clusters, known as corymbs – which can sometimes be made up of hundreds of individual flowers. Each flower faces outwards, exposing a cluster of pretty yellow stamens. Flowering later than most ramblers, in June-July, the flowers are followed by an equally wonderful crop of small, oval shaped, coral-red hips. Murrell, 1964.

    A very vigorous rambler that will climb to a great height. Its single blooms are strongly fragrant and produced in large clusters, mingling beautifully with the dark, glossy foliage. The buds are apricot, opening cream then quickly turning white. Stern, 1950.

    A giant rambler, producing exceptionally large, heavy heads of strongly fragrant, white flowers. The individual blooms are small, semi-double and cupped, with yellow stamens. They are followed by large quantities of small, oval, orange-red hips. It is very vigorous, producing long, thick stems with glossy, pale green leaves.
