Potted Roses

Potted roses are available all year round. They are very popular gifts and can be planted during the summer months outside of the bare root rose season. Once planted, they establish quickly in the garden, flowering in their first year – and for many years to come. Potted roses are delivered direct from David Austin’s nursery by courier. Each rose will arrive in a premium 6 litre pot, securely packed inside a sturdy, rose-print box. If watered adequately, potted roses can be kept in the same pot in which they are delivered for 6 weeks or more.

    English Shrub Rose
    Small, single flowers held in very large heads, rather like a hydrangea, produced almost continuously from early summer into autumn. Soft apricot buds open to pure white, with a hint of soft lemon behind the stamens. It is extremely healthy and almost thornless. The growth is bushy and rather upright. David Austin, 2009.

    Graceful semi-double flowers, of a pleasing apricot, are produced from the ground upwards, and are held in large heads of up to fifteen, nicely spaced blooms. They have a beautiful open-cup shape, loosely filled with about twenty petals, arranged around a cluster of golden stamens. It forms an extremely healthy shrub with tall, airy growth.     Rugosa Rose
    At first sight, this is a very similar rose to ‘Roseraie de l’Hay’, but the flowers are fully double and bright silky magenta in colour. They have a lovely Old Rose fragrance. It produces a good crop of hips in the autumn, extending the season of colour in the garden. Schaumᅠ&ᅠVanᅠTol, 1865.

    Rugosa Rose
    Single, white flowers of silky texture with a strong Old Rose fragrance. These are quickly followed by exceptionally large, orange-red hips that ripen together with the last of its blooms. It forms a vigorous, spreading shrub.

    Gentle Hermione

    English Shrub Rose
    The perfectly formed, shallow cups are pure light pink, paling to soft blush on the outer petals. There is a strong, warm myrrh fragrance. It forms an attractive, quite broad shrub, with slightly arching stems. The leaves are tinged red at first, later turning green. Hermione is the faithful wife of Leontes, the King of Sicila, in Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale. David Austin, 2005.

    Morning Mist

    English Shrub Rose
    A striking variety with large, truly single flowers, which are a strong shade of coral-pink. They each have a large boss of yellow stamens with red anthers. It is one of the largest English Roses, forming a big, bushy shrub. Although repeat flowering, it also bears a superb crop of large orange hips through the winter. David Austin, 1996.
