Most Fragrant English Roses

Most Fragrant English Roses

Everyone has a different perception of scent but the English Roses listed below are the varieties we consider to be the most fragrant. The English Roses are famous for the diversity and strength of their fragrances, with many varieties having won awards, both nationally and internationally, for their delicious fragrances which can be Old Rose, Tea, fruity, myrrh, musky or almost any mixture of these elements. To make the most of their heady scents, we recommend planting them near to the house or alongside paths and seating areas in the garden.

    English Climbing Rose
A rose of delicate charm with beautifully formed flowers, which nod gracefully on the stem. When the petals open they expose numerous stamens, providing an almost water lily-like effect. The flowers are a pale glowing pink, shading to palest pink on the outer petals. There is a strong and delicious fragrance with aspects of Old Rose, musk and myrrh. The leaves are a pale greyish green and they stay on until late into the winter. DavidᅠAustin, 2002.

    English Climbing Rose
This was our original English Rose. It produces magnificent, deeply cupped, pure mid pink blooms of luminous delicacy. They have a wonderfully strong myrrh fragrance. Although it only flowers once in early summer, it is still a very valuable variety. Our tallest English climber; it has large leaves and many thorns. DavidᅠAustin, 1961.
