When choosing roses, we believe it is often as important to select varieties for their fragrance as it is for their beauty. Roses do not have just one single fragrance; fragrances vary greatly between one variety and another and between species. As well as the classic, much loved Old Rose fragrance, there is fruity, Tea, myrrh, musky or any mixture of these elements. The scents of many other flowers, such as lilac and lily of the valley, are also found among roses. To make the most of these wonderful fragrances, we recommend planting roses near to the house or alongside paths and seating areas where their heady scents can be best appreciated.
