Roses are wonderful plants for growing in pots, urns and other containers. Just about any type of rose can be grown in a pot, as long as the pot is large enough to hold the volume of soil or compost needed to sustain the size of the plant, the minimum we suggest is 45cm x 45cm. Growing roses in pots allows you to have fun with your garden, enabling flexibility and experimentation with the minimum amount of labour. Roses in pots can be grown in even the smallest amount of outside space, such as on a city balcony or terrace or on a small garden patio. If you have a larger garden, we recommend placing pots in areas that you frequently walk past or sit near, such as next to the house, along a path or next to a bench or eating area. Alternatively, group potted roses together in one area to make a beautiful, colourful feature. English Roses with their shrubby, bushy habit are ideal for growing in large pots and containers. Unlike many other potted plants, English Roses will flower in fragrant flushes throughout the summer and into the autumn. For instant impact in the garden, try planting a Standard Rose in a pot.
