The China Roses, which had the unique ability to repeat flower throughout the summer, were introduced from China to Europe in the 18th century. These roses were soon cross-fertilized with the Old Roses and this led to the following group of repeat-flowering Old Roses which still retain the Old Rose form of flower. They never reached their full potential as they were soon overtaken by the Hybrid Tea Roses. The English Roses may be said to have superseded them. Read less
