Standard Tree Roses

Standard Tree Roses

Standard Tree Roses are magnificent garden plants. They are created by budding a minimum of two shrubs on a stem; hence the dramatic effect. We believe English Roses, with their natural, bushy growth and beautiful, fragrant flowers, are the finest roses for growing as standards. They are ideal for creating focal points in key areas of the garden and can also be used to line a path, frame a doorway or bring interest to a bare wall. Standards are useful for adding height to a border and look particularly impressive when planted closely together in groups of three or four. It is important to stake standards at planting time.

  1. Sir John Betjeman

    Sir John Betjeman

    English Standard Tree Rose
A rose of more modern character than most English Roses. The flowers start as small buds, opening to full petalled, wide open rosettes of a bright, deep pink. As the flowers age, the blooms becomes dome-shaped while the colour - unusually for the English Roses - gradually intensifies. The flowers are 2 ᄑ to 3 inches across and are produced very freely; having a light, rather 'green' fragrance. 'Sir John Betjeman's' flowering period is particularly long, with it still blooming when all of the other roses have given up.

    Jubilee Celebration

    English Standard Tree Rose
This is one of the finest roses we have introduced so far. Its large, domed flowers are of a lovely rich salmon-pink with tints of gold on the underside of the petals; each bloom being elegantly held well above the foliage. Despite the size of the flowers, they are produced with exceptional freedom and continuity. There is a strong, deliciously fruity scent with hints of fresh lemon and raspberry. It is very healthy and reliable with lush, green foliage.
