Standard Tree Roses

Standard Tree Roses

Standard Tree Roses are magnificent garden plants. They are created by budding a minimum of two shrubs on a stem; hence the dramatic effect. We believe English Roses, with their natural, bushy growth and beautiful, fragrant flowers, are the finest roses for growing as standards. They are ideal for creating focal points in key areas of the garden and can also be used to line a path, frame a doorway or bring interest to a bare wall. Standards are useful for adding height to a border and look particularly impressive when planted closely together in groups of three or four. It is important to stake standards at planting time.

Distinctly quartered rosettes are produced on long, arching branches. They are light pink with a pretty apricot hue. The outer petals are almost white – the light reflecting among the petals to enhance the whole effect. Its growth is bushy with quite small, clean-looking foliage. David Austin, 2003.

    English Standard Tree Rose
This is a rose of exceptional delicacy and charm, perhaps more so than any other rose we know. The flowers are shallowly cupped and about 3 inches across; the petals arranged in a most perfect rosette formation - their colour being a very pure soft pink; the outer petals paling a little towards the edge. It bears some resemblance to an old Alba Rose such as 'Queen of Denmark'. There is a delightful, fresh, fruity fragrance with hints of raspberries and tea. .
