The story behind The King’s Rose™ began with a simple moment of connection. At the Chelsea Flower Show in the 1990s, David J.C. Austin met His Majesty The King, then The Prince of Wales. During their conversation, they discovered they had both grown Ferdinand Pichard, a distinctive, striped old rose, as the first rose in their gardens. It was a small but meaningful exchange that stayed with David.

A thousand visitors got to explore the private sanctuary on the family farm where the company is based in Albrighton, Shropshire, on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th of June.

To get 2024 off to a positive start, David Austin^® has announced it has joined hands with iconic British pottery brand, Emma Bridgewater to design a mug honouring its joyful Bring Me Sunshine^® (Ausernie) English rose. 

David Austin^® Roses cultivates community growth with £10,000 donation to Grow to Know following the launch of new English rose of Dannahue^® named after garden designer and BBC presenter Danny Clarke.

Approximately 60,000 petals from over 20 varieties of English roses, including those from the new rose we revealed at the show, Penelope Lively^®, will now become sustainable, biodegradable confetti sold on to benefit various UK cancer charities.

Here at David Austin Roses, we are passionate about the ways in which we can support charities and organisations that positively impact the mental and physical wellbeing for all. 

David Austin Roses were invited to Bedwellty House in Tredegar, Wales to commemorate their newest rose which is named after Nye Bevan, founder of the NHS.

We are delighted to enter the season of giving by donating £100,000 between our chosen health-based charities: NHS Charities Together, National Garden Scheme & Alexandra Rose Charity.
