        Description
Apricot-yellow buds open to shallowly cupped, many petalled rosettes. They are a beautiful blend of subtle apricot-pink and soft yellow, giving the overall impression of apricot, with creamy outer petals. There is a superb floral myrrh fragrance, with hints of honey and Tea. It forms a short, vigorous climber. The name was inspired by the heroine of Thomas Hardy’s Far from the Madding Crowd. Bathsheba

Having read some critical reviews of Bathsheba, I thought I would add my experience. I bought the rose 4 years ago, and for the first two years I was quite disappointed; the leaves were small and pale, in spite of adding rose fertiliser, it produced very few blooms, and had absolutely no inclination to climb. However, last summer it was much improved, and this summer (admittedly an amazing year for roses!) it is bushy and healthy, has grown a lot in every direction, has almost reached the top of a 6-foot fence, and has flowered all summer long. I am not sure I would call it a climber, though; its habit is more like a tall shrub rose.
